I would guess the majority of cyclists, or people trying to get healthy through cycling set themselves targets and goals. Whether that be weekly, monthly, or even yearly.
But I’m interested in which targets people find effective, or indeed the most popular š¤·āāļø

Distance targets
I would imagine the most popular target for cyclists, over whatever time frame, would be distance. There is without a doubt a sense of achievement when crossing that 100 mile in a week barrier.
Time targets
Now this is the newest concept for me, and indeed why I’m writing this post. Surely it matters more the effort put in than the distance covered? Or does it?
Elevation targets
This is pretty hardcore! Not something I’ve done myself. We all know how hard you have to work to gain serious amounts of elevation during a ride, have you ever set yourself an elevation target?
I saw a guy I follow on Strava (Francisco Salva) went for a ride yesterday… 45 miles with 4000 ft of elevation. Pretty hardcore!

Weight Targets
What about weight loss? Surely if you’re trying to improve your health none of the above matters if your losing those kg’s?
Let me know below in the comments what your goals and targets are, what works for you?
